Sanatorium Tatranská Kotlina

Sanatorium Tatranská Kotlina is located in a settlement of the same name in Tatranská Kotlina, which was established at the foot of the Belianske Tatras as a result of the discovery of a cave in 1881. Already in 1891, Tatranská Kotlina was included among the natural healing spas. The climate in Tatranská Kotlina, despite the low altitude of 760 m above sea level, has an alpine character and, unlike other Tatra settlements, there are almost no fogs. The settlement has the status of a climatic spa and the environment is suitable for the treatment of asthma, allergies and other respiratory diseases. The facility provides health care as a specialized hospital – a specialized medical institute and as a natural climatic spa. The main activity of the sanatorium is comprehensive institutional care for adult patients diagnosed with bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other non-specific (non-tuberculous) diseases of the respiratory system, mostly chronic. Due to the low altitude, this environment can also be used by people who, in addition to breathing difficulties, also have cardiovascular diseases. The preserved natural environment and undemanding terrain for walks are also suitable for combined types of diseases.
