The Past - a brief history
At the beginning, there used to be a sea on the place where the Chalet is situated. During the Tertiary Period, the Solisko peak arose along with other mountains. A bit later, during the Ice Age, the last of dinosauruses left and after wards, the meadow was occupied by the first Štrba village land owners. When they cleaned Solisko from dwarf pines, the sheep herds took place.
The Chalet was built in 1944 as a relaxation place near the longest ski lift in former Czechoslovakia. As far as those times, refreshing during skiing belonged to fine manners.
One year later, the Chalet began to be being used by partisans. They appreciated a beautiful view of the Under-Tatras Hollow which was occupied by Germans, and also many sunny days and perfect climate.
In following years, during long winters, the Chalet served as a hut for the Rysy Chalet owners. We can mention, for example, Miro Jílek st., Belo Kapolka, Oldo Bublík, Laco Richvalský, Pavol Vavro, Anton Marec and we can` t forget Fero Bujak - the famous Tatras` tennis virtuoso.
The year 2002 was the main turning point, when there was a strong gust on one summer day and it been away the cook` s nat while making tea in the kitchen, and - the decision was made. A new chalet is going to be built! After 40/days of bureaucratic tortures, the first pick dug into the earth of the Solisko meadow on September 1st, 2003. We were working unbelievably fast during next 99 days. The first Chalet` s Champaign was open on December 21st, 2003.
