The winter season on Štrbské Pleso started November 2009 and we started with artificial snowing on our first slope Jamy in Tatranska Lomnica. Already the next day we started with artificial snowing also on another ski slope Jakubkova luka in Stary Smokovec. We open for you ski resort in Tatranská Lomnica.
The High Tatras offer ski slopes in two ski resorts this winter.
Ski slope on Štrbské Pleso – 1 600m – 1 950m above sea level, 1 850 m in length, the highest situated ski slope with artificial snow in Slovakia.
Ski resort in the High Tatras – Tatranská Lomnica offers new ski slopes in total length of 4,9 km, the blues slope from Štart to Tatranská Lomnica was widenth, artificial snow on the Tatranská Lomnica – Čučoriedky section is guaranteed for 5 months, new 4-seat chairlift was build on the Štart-Čučoriedky section. The highest situated and most steep ski slope in Slovakia can be found in the High Tatras – Tatranská Lomnica resort.
All ski slopes are maintained daily, night skiing in the Jamy – Tatranská Lomnica or Štrbské pleso resort, night sledge riding on a 2,6 km lighted trail from Hrebienok to Starý Smokovec, ski schools for kids and adults.

Great skiing opportunities are in Lomnicke sedlo and new wide slopes from Skalnaté pleso to Tatranská Lomnica with lots of snow, thanks to the new artificial snowing system and a new 4-seat chairlift, guratnee the best skiing experience on the sunny side of High Tatras. Skiing in Lomnické sedlo offers great opportunities also for freeride skiers.
THE SNOW CODE OF SLOVAKIA:
HOW TO BEHAVE ON THE SKI SLOPE
1. RESPECT OTHER SKIERS - every one on the slope is obligated to behave in such a way that one will not endanger life or health of other skiers, nor will one endanger ones or others property.
2. THE SPEED AND CRUISE CONTROL - skier must see whats going on in front of him. The skier must adjust the speed to his skills, abilities, terrain, snow conditions as well as the number of other skiers n the ski slope.
3. CHOICE OF DIRECTION - Skier in the back must choose his path in a way that he will not endanger the skier in front . He must keep safe distance from the skier in front, so that the latter has space for maneuvering.
4. OVERTAKING - Overtaking is possible from left as wall as from right, but the skier being overtaken must have enough space for maneuvering.
5. ENTERING THE SLOPE AND CONTIUING THE RIDE - Skier entering the slope or continuing interrupted ride must be assured that no one is enclosing, to prevent injuries.
6. YIELDING AND STOPING - Skier are prohibited to stop in enclosed, or not safe spots on the ski slope. Fallen skier must vacate such spot at once.
7. ASCENDING AND DESCENDING - Persons ascending or descending via the ski slope must keep to sides.
8. OBEYING THE TRAFFIC SIGNS - Skier are obligated to obey the traffic signs on the ski slope.
9. FIRST AID - When injury occurs, skiers must provide first aid and announce the injury to the authorities.
10. CONDITION OF SKIS AND SKI GEAR - Only skis and ski gear in good condition (condition in which manufacturer guarantees safety) can be used on the slope.
Each visitor must behave according to the snow code on the ski slope and these rules are obligational. Each skier uses the ski slope at his/hers own risk and must consider his/hers abilities and skills according to the slope, weather and number of skiers on the slope.
The provider of the ski slope can prohibit a person to enter the ski slope, if such person refuses to obey these rules. The employees of the ski resort and designated persons are approved to prohibit a person to enter the ski slope.

High Tatras with its 24 peaks higher than 2.500 m above sea level provide the only mountains with an Alpine character in the whole of the 1.200 km length of the Carpathian Mountain range.
The town of High Tatras was founded in 1947 and it has a population of 5,000 residents. The Administrative centre of the town is Stary Smokovec, which together with Tatranska Lomnica and Strbske Pleso provides the focal point for one of the three most important Tatra tourist resorts. High Tatras covers an area of 398 square km and is one of the largest cities in the Slovak republic.
