Facts: Trail No.9: Starting point: 1060 a.s.l. Ending point: 1665 a.s.l. Total trail length: 14,2 km (2x7,1 km) Elevation: 605 m Cyclo-trail no.9 from Tatranska Polianka to Velicke pleso - tarn, has the second highest vertical elevation (605 m) of all Tatra cyclotrails. It is suitable only for skilled bikers. The trail starts in the Tatranska Polianka - site, near to the II/537 main road, located in front of the local Post Office. From here the trail rises contineuously up along a steep narrow road, that contains some dramatic curves with no views, to the Velicke pleso - tarn, situated on the foothill of Gerlach (2655 m - the highest Tatra peak). The trail´s end is on a parking area near to the mountain hotel "Sliezsky dom". There are some beautiful views at Velicka dolina and the dominating "Velicky waterfall". The asphalt surface along this trail allows all kind of bikes, including mountain bikes, to make use of it. In some sections asphalt has eroded, so please take care whilst using the downhill back to Tatranska Polianka. .

High Tatras:
The town of High Tatras was founded in 1947 and it has a population of 5,000 residents. The Administrative centre of the town is Stary Smokovec, which together with Tatranska Lomnica and Strbske Pleso provides the focal point for one of the three most important Tatra tourist resorts. High Tatras covers an area of 398 square km and is one of the largest cities in the Slovak republic.
